How FlipTarot’s AI tarot works

  1. Start with your question

Your question and the background you share guide the reading, whether it concerns love, work, or a personal decision.

  2. Combine meanings, positions, and reversals

Using the Rider–Waite–Smith tradition, AI interprets each card’s meaning, spread position, and upright or reversed orientation in relation to your question.

  3. Connect the whole spread

AI connects the cards into a coherent reading to help you consider your next steps. You can ask follow-up questions based on the same reading.

Frequently Asked Questions About AI Tarot

Is FlipTarot free to use for online tarot readings?

Yes. After signing in, you get one free Daily Guidance reading and three free basic readings each day. Additional readings cost 1 credit each or are included with Premium. View pricing and plans.

Are AI tarot readings accurate?

Neither AI nor human tarot readings can guarantee future events. FlipTarot uses a consistent reading process to connect your question with card meanings, spread positions, and relationships between cards. AI readings are available on demand and support contextual follow-ups, while human readers bring personal experience and conversation. AI can make mistakes, so treat each reading as a perspective to consider. Learn about our approach.

What is tarot, and how do tarot cards work?

Tarot is a symbolic card system used to explore questions, experiences, and different perspectives. A standard tarot deck contains 78 cards: 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana. During a reading, cards are drawn into a layout called a spread and interpreted through their symbolism, positions, and relationship to your question. Explore tarot card meanings.

What tarot spreads can I choose on FlipTarot?

FlipTarot offers 23 tarot spreads, including 16 question-based spreads and 7 classic layouts. Options include One Card, Yes or No, Past–Present–Future, and the Celtic Cross. Choose a focused spread for a specific question or a larger layout to explore your situation from multiple angles. Browse all tarot spreads.

Can I ask follow-up questions after a tarot reading?

Yes. You can ask up to 10 follow-up questions per reading. FlipTarot uses your original reading as context to clarify cards, explore connections across the spread, or discuss possible next steps. Follow-ups are included with Premium; otherwise, each costs 1 credit.

Are tarot cards safe to use? Are they evil?

Tarot cards are generally safe to use for reflection and entertainment. Whether tarot is considered “evil” depends on religious traditions and personal beliefs. FlipTarot treats tarot as a symbolic tool and makes no supernatural claims or promises about future events. Use each reading as a perspective, not a replacement for your own judgment.
