Card positions and meanings

Read each card through the role of its fixed position. A card does not mean the same thing in every place in a spread.

Present Core
The central condition and overall atmosphere of a complex question around which the full analysis should be organized.
Crossing Influence
The main tension, obstacle, or second force intersecting the core and making the situation more complex.
Goal & Ideal
The goal, ideal, or best state you consciously seek but have not yet realized.
Foundation & Root
A deeper cause, long-term pattern, established fact, or insufficiently conscious motive that already forms the situation’s foundation.
Receding Influence
An important influence that has just passed or is declining but still helps explain the current situation.
Approaching Influence
A near-term event, person, or condition about to enter the situation and potentially change what follows.
Your Position
How you understand, respond to, and participate in the question, including the responsibility and action within your control.
Environment & Others
How surrounding people, relationships, institutions, and practical circumstances support, limit, or respond to you.
Hopes & Fears
Your expectations and concerns about the outcome and how that state of mind affects judgment and action.
Likely Outcome
A synthesis of the stronger influences, showing the result most likely to form if present conditions and patterns of choice continue.
