XVIII · Major Arcana
Core Meaning
Not everything is clear yet; trust your instincts but question assumptions.
The Moon represents uncertainty, hidden fears, illusion, intuition, and unclear emotional territory. It suggests that not everything is visible yet, and intuition may be difficult to distinguish from fear or projection.
Reversed, the Moon can point to fear or confusion beginning to surface more clearly, while uncertainty may still remain. It may suggest separating intuition from projection, uncovering what was hidden, or gradually moving out of an emotionally foggy state.

Confusion may be clearing, yet fear and projection still need to be separated from actual behavior.
Incomplete information and subtle workplace dynamics favor careful observation, especially in creative or uncertain work.
Rumors, fear, or a hidden concern may be distorting a decision that needs clearer facts.
Unclear terms or hidden costs make this a time for questions, documentation, and caution.
Review details again as uncertainty lifts; partial clarity is not the same as complete evidence.
Explore dreams, fears, and symbols without requiring every inner image to be literally true.
Name the assumption beneath the fear and test it against what you can actually know.
The moon’s reflected light symbolizes imagination, dream, subconscious life, and indirect illumination rather than direct reason.
The path between two towers leads into the unknown, symbolizing movement from the familiar world into uncertainty.
The dog and wolf represent the natural mind’s fear before the unknown, while the creature emerging from the water suggests deeper instinctive impulses.
This card warns that when only reflected light is available, fear, illusion, and subconscious forces can strongly influence perception.
